Chicken with my head cut off!

Posted on July 29th, 2008 in Kablogs by ynagirl

goodness. i thought i was done with my wedding related project… i guess not. So far ive been running around like a chicken with my head cut off. going to the church, getting my trial make up done, meeting friends, talking to the coordinator, talking to the family, planning the rehearsal dinner, figuring out what else i need to “make” for the wedding… it’s so tiring. i come home and immediately fall asleep at 10ish. wake up at 4 the next day due to the time change. no wonder overseas brides never really get the chance to gain the weight theyve lost… ive been here 5 and a half days, trying to accomplish things that shouldve been done perhaps a month ago…

so anyways, ive done a small project with the help of my mother in law. it’s a wedding cord with my theme. :) beads beads beads… it was fun making it, i found it really hard to find the perfect pattern of pink beads and nickel findings to combine with the brown beads…. here is how it looks

im finally done with all that ive needed to accomplish for our wedding. despite the fact that i felt like crap all weekend. It started friday night, i had the sniffles which eventually evolved into a fever and more sniffles the next day, my back has been killing me all weekend long. i could still feel the pain right now. wonder what is wrong…

okay enough whining, here is a picture of the pink and brown motif that im doing for my wedding. I need to upload the whole box of chopstick sleeves later on. neil took a picture of the whole box of it.

proud to say all hand made by yours truly.

on a sidenote, i was scanning pictures last night for a small slideshow that we plan to present on our reception, it was pictures of my childhood… i couldnt help getting all teary eyed until i finally let it all out…i miss my mom … sigh.

mission accomplished!!! – well some…

Ive been busy these past two or three (lost moment) days. last sunday, waiting for my husband to finish his layouts. i cant complain, i saw him racking his brains to do these two layouts. definitely a labor of love. he finished close to midnight.

second mission accomplished : last night – i’ve actually done something with the album that i got from michaels. after squeezing my brain on how to make something so simple look special for our big day, i gathered some scraps that ive used for my chopsticks (which i still havent gotten myself to work on) some stuff that were given away to us at work (freebies are always good), some staring at the ceiling… i finally came up with this. im happy with it. neil had some input on it. although its quite hard to explain to him what i want to do with all those raw materials, i had to sort of lay it out for him so he can visualize it. I think it turned out pretty well for my first attempt to use our products in layers. i got into my creative mode last night, i finished another project but maybe ill post it tomorrow. dont want to overload you with pink and browns… i found myself chanting “pink and brown pink and brown, everything pink and brown” it went on until this morning… =p

my third mission : ACCOMPLISHED TODAY! Neil has switched jobs. we usually carpool to work. poor thing has to wait til i get all ready to leave and drive to his work which takes about 20 minutes on surface street. now he’s moved to a job which, if we carpooled would not be such a good idea. still close to where we live but we are basically travelling opposite directions. itll take me about an hour to get to work considering that i have no choice but to take the freeway on rush hour and in california. yeah you know what i mean. a 20 minute drive can easily turn to an hour drive. He starts on thursday but we didnt get confirmation until monday. we decided not to purchase anything major (yeah like a car) until we are sure that he gets the job. it was a really crazy day today at work… stress stress, i had a couple of booboos, stayed 20 minutes later than i had to but after all that, we had to rush to orange to check out the car that we worked so hard for to find. hahaa not really hard but because of all my petty requirements and the fact that i refuse to pay more than i have to, plus the availability of the vehicle, we ended up going to toyota of orange…Got in at 630, left at 8-ish.

ladies and gentlemen, please meet the new member of our family… IKLOG. name derived from the translation of “Egg” in tagalog which is ITLOG, but growing up i had a hard time saying it with a T. Looks like an egg, dont you think? we are happy with the purchase. I told myself not to give into the sales talk of the add-ons, warranty, blah blah and the list goes on but i am weak… i gave in to some of them, after doing the math, neil and i think it’s totally worth it.

a mission a day… not bad. onto the next. darn i got to get to those chopsticks!!!

My Wedding Related project… out on a mission!!!

Posted on July 13th, 2008 in Kablogs by ynagirl

Guest book. Ive decided to do another DIY. I know I know, I hardly have any time left in my hands. With all the Chopsticks that I still need to work on I don’t know if ill even have time to finish this project. Right now, its not a matter of whether I have time to do it or not. It’s a matter of getting it done before my wedding day. Ive decided to finally give scrapbooking a shot. Ive never scrapbooked my entire life. Im still intimidated by using our own products to scrapbook so ive decided to do digital layouts for the meantime. The layout will have some cheesy pictures of our pre-nup shots and some random shots of both of us and a space for people to write their messages. I figured not a lot would write messages for the bride and groom simply because theres really nothing you can jot down for the couple except best wishes or perhaps congratulations. So 20 pages it is.
Neil’s been watching me do layouts all week last week and he kept saying that im hogging all the work. And he said last week that he was going to do some pages. So far i’ve seen nothing yet. I already have 18 pages laid out, ive assigned neil to do two pages. He finally asked me today the dimensions of the pages. i think he’s actually going to take a shot at it. Keeping my fingers crossed.
Yesterday after work, I spent roughly two hours at Michaels looking for the perfect scrapbook album and ended up buying this one.

It’s really a challenge since I was hoping to find something in my wedding theme but unfortunately they did not carry any in my colors. So I ended up with this one, figured I can do something to enhance the front a bit. May need to get some Rhinestone monograms from work with mine and neil’s initials… and work my way up from there. Still trying to figure it out.

Red Hot Dog

Posted on July 13th, 2008 in Kablogs by ynagirl

I love to eat red hotdogs. Do not take this post out of context you guys, its just that ive realized that normal colored franks dont appeal to me as much as the bright red ones. Somehow they taste way better than normal ones. Perhaps it’s because it brings me back to my childhood. i remember not being able to eat too much hotdogs especially red ones because my mom refuses to feed me processed food to begin with, and second, what’s more worse than eating processed food is eating processed food soaked in red food coloring. Still id get my red hotdogs as a treat. maybe once a month i get to go to the local grocery with my dad and he and i would go have a feast of junk food while my mom would do all the grocery shopping. tee-hee fun memories of my childhood. Thank goodness there are filipino stores out here where neil and i can splurge on our red hot dog cravings. The normal ones that ive tried are okay, sometimes too salty for my taste and some are just blah… i could care less if those disappeared from the face of the earth. It’s a happy day, i had them for dinner
