Oh hello

I cant believe that it’s almost been a year since I last wrote an entry. So much has happened since my last entry. Sp I guess here is a quick summary of the past year.

First we tried to sell our house last november. That did not go so well as the market at that time was really bad. Needless to say, we still live in the same house.

January 4 2009, I found out i was pregnant with our first child. It was such exciting news. well both exciting as well as scary at least for me. Ive been scared out of my mind about giving birth since the fifth grade but you gotta do what you gotta do. :)

March 2009 – we find out , he is a boy.

Baby Boy

July 2009 – a series of baby showers. 3 to be exact. i have a project that i want to share in a little bit. i did it for my giveaways.

Untitled-2

September 4 2009 – 121 PM. Welcome to the world Riley Taylor.

My year in a nutshell…

CHANGE is GOOD!

Posted on November 4th, 2008 in Kablogs by ynagirl

Nov 4, 2008 9:48PM I just finished getting over a very emotional moment. My candidate won…It certainly feels that i myself have won the presidential elections. For the most part, I have been apathetic about politics, mostly because i felt that one vote wouldn’t matter, and for some weird reason i feel that everything seems to be pre-determined. I guess it comes to a point in your life where you actually realize that apathy doesnt solve anything. That if you want things around you to change, then you have to CHOOSE to MAKE IT HAPPEN. I do have opinions about what’s going on with the world and how i think our country needs a major overhaul, but i havent had enough motivation to do anything about it until TODAY.  Ive finally made up my mind that no matter what, i am going to cast in that vote. Everyone keeps saying, being american gives you the right to vote. The way i see it, being an american gives each and everyone of us THE PRIVILEGE to vote…Alas, ive decided to get in line to exercise this privilege. The last thing i remember Jen L telling me, Annie, you can do it. and so i did. I cant really explain how elated i am and how proud i feel to somehow, be a part of many firsts in american history.

There’s no looking back at this point. The future may seem uncertain but PRESIDENT OBAMA’s (the 44th president of the United States) win gives us all a glimmer of hope, and perhaps tell ourselves to BELIEVE that CHANGE IS GOOD. :)

so so so happy, i dont know if i can sleep.

Featured Friend : Dennis Santarinala

Posted on October 10th, 2008 in Kablogs by ynagirl

As most people know, we are not phone people and the only way i keep in touch with my friends lately is thru these networks as i am really bad at keeping people’s emails and other contact info. This morning, i went thru my different social networking accounts just to check what’s going on with our circle of friends and i see a posted bulletin of one of our good friends here in CA – Dennis entitled “New Bridals and Wedding Photography Proofing Site”. Neil and Dennis were friends back in manila and when neil came to the states, he was one of the few ones that we have somehow managed to find and kept in touch with…

Anyways, so i click the link/s and got super excited over these photos. I had to text him to ask if I could feature him in my blog.

Love love love these photos taken by Dennis. He takes wonderful photos, is very easy to get along with, work with and definitely knows what he is doing. Believe me, ive seen how he gets his shots, some of them were taken from our living room and from first hand experience… hihihi Absolutely beautiful! Here’s our tribute you, our friend, looking forward to seeing more of your work.

By the way, if you guys want to see more of his work or to get in touch with him you can visit his websites

My birthday

Posted on September 12th, 2008 in Kablogs by ynagirl

Just wanted to share some photos of what had transpired on my birthday…

Trying to start anew

Posted on September 8th, 2008 in Kablogs by ynagirl

okay so ive mentioned on my last post that i havent put much effort into trying to draw something or perhaps take time to do something because i wanted to… mostly it’s because i sort of needed to and wanted to at the same time. i think the last time i actually drew something was way back in college. I was going thru my stuff in the philippines and i came across a black tube that had tons of paper in it. opened it one by one, most of the stuff had drawings of planes and alot of them were about perspective. then i came across a colorful image. had a grade of A on it… OMG i cant believe that i had that in me. i don’t even remember drawing something like that. it was an exercise for our visualization class… ill share it later on. i need to get a frame for it. hihihi… an art piece found.

i work with a really talented pool of people… im the only one who isnt a fine arts graduate. all if not most of them have talents doing something… paige is crafty she likes making stuff, celphone holder, sewing a purse now trying to sew a dress, last week she made a journal… . Jen can sew a quilt in 2 hours, she crochets, bakes, makes pretty cards… louis does alot, from little journals made of old giftcards to origami boxes, then takes really beautiful pictures, then he makes lots of little knick-knacks, and i think he does alot of clay figurines… im not sure if its clay but they are figurines. min paints a lot she’s due for a show and tell this week, ive seen some of her work and they’re really awesome. tonya paints as well, and scrapbooks. anderson likes sports… hahahahha , sorry i dont know what anderson’s creative outlet is but he loves sports… he spends lots of time with his son that’s sports related. one season it’s basketball, next season it’s soccer. ooh, anderson makes perfect package mock ups, and he cuts almost perfect circles from foam core using just an xacto knife…then there’s renee who does everything…ive  degree in marketing. well 2 years of business management then 3 years in communication arts. that pretty much boils down to marketing. hihihi… here is a picture of our team

we were at target last weekend or was that a weekend before that, and i pretty much got inspired to buy some crayons and color pencils. then i bought more books in amazon. I remember jen saying to me well you need to make something now that you have all those books. she’s right… i keep buying all these books for inspiration and motivation to either start a hobby or make something nice… but i never end up doing anything about it. just flip the pages once i got them and then afterwards they just lay there and collect dust… maybe it’s about time i do something creative… outside of work.

anywho, here’s  a picture of my yellow collection. now i just need to go get me and neil a sketchbook. btw mickey and minnie were a present, i kinda did something to the package but it is still a W.I.P. =S

our manga selves…

Posted on September 5th, 2008 in Kablogs by ynagirl

manga (mäŋgə, maŋ-)

noun: a Japanese genre consisting of comic books and graphic novels, typically black-and-white and featuring stylized characters with large, round eyes

i just wanted to share and perhaps im a bit too late getting into this new fad of manga-sizing yourself… i dont have time to draw but i do wish i at least tried honing my manga skills growing up. i remember drawing these artforms as a kid (sailor moon and astroboy being some of them) but somehow i feel like ive left my hand drawing skills back in the philippines…

anywho, here is the website : www.faceyourmanga.com.  if you have time, you guys should give it a try. it’s fun :) neil and i tried making our manga’s on separate occasions hehehe here’s what we came up with…coincidence????

Sunday bloody Sunday

This has been probably one of the more adventurous trips ive had since being married. As most of you know I’m not a huge fan of driving more than 15 miles to and from anywhere, so does neil. Traffic would probably be one of the reasons why we refuse to drive anywhere past orange county. The other reason would be gas prices and third would be our little ones that we have to leave at home… we have to make sure that we come home by six so they can have dinner. Today was a good day to have a field trip for me and neil. We figured we’d take our friends who are going back home to the philippines to LA to see what’s beyond orange county.

First stop. TITO’s TACOS. For people who have known me for a long time, everytime i hear LA or culver city, i always bring up Titos tacos. I love love love their tacos. and their salsa… OMG!!! TO DIE FOR. Im not sure what they put in there but you really have to try it for yourself. For sure they use fresh tomatoes, maybe some salt, cilantro, bit of lime juice and maybe something else but seriously guys, if you ever find yourselves in culver city or going somewhere past LAX on the 40, make sure you take some time to check this place out. The line starts getting long at noon so try to come in before noon. We got in at around 1130. it was perfect! I havent had tito’s tacos in five years i think and i kept telling neil how i wanted him to taste their tacos. mmmmmmmmm!!!!!!!!! I used to be able to eat at least 4 but today ive struggled finishing my third one. I was full after two but gluttony told me to have one more and so i gave in. FOOD COMA!!! I could hardly move after all three thankfully we had a long day ahead of us.

Second and third stops were 3rd st. Promenade in Santa Monica and then off to Hollywood and Highland. A bit touristy but fun. I like santa monica. There’s always something new to see. I love seeing the street performers. They’re so talented. Hollywood and highland was our next stop. Once you’re a tourist who’s in southern california, you cant leave CA without seeing the ever-famous avenue of the stars, kodak theatre, Manns Chinese theatre, wax museum and not to forget, the impersonators of well-known movie characters. we were lucky to have seen a couple of them… although the main attraction to me was this little english bulldog puppy who was sooo so so so cute, made me want to have one…then again, ive got my two puggies and a mutt.

Last stop. Hooters. Famous for it’s wings (right) , we figured we’d take our friends to HOOTERS for a light dinner or at least we thought it would be a light one. We ended up ordering 30 pieces of wings in three different flavors. 10 wings in spicy garlic, 10 in parmesean and herb, and the last 10 wings was in samurai sauce. Samurai was the definite winner. It’s almost like teriyaki wings but maybe 4x better. Our friend loved it so much. i dont know what he was thinking but he was pretty much eating them so fast that all of a sudden he shouted Owww Owwwwww (ouching sound) i thought he burned his tongue from the hot wings. I asked him if he did and he said no… so i asked why he started yelling ouch… he said that he was trying to eat his samurai wings and it was so good that he ended up biting his own finger. MY GOSH, talk about finger lickin good! hahaha!!! It was really funny (maybe funnier if you were there to witness it). unthinkable if you ask me but i guess the sauce was really THAT GOOD.

Early Christmas Present

Neil and I feel so blessed to have friends who have witnessed and help our relationship grow stronger everyday. Just to share how we met, Neil and I met through our work. Him being in the manila office and I working in the US office… We met 2003. here is one of the first pictures we have together. no not as a couple but just co-workers. if you guys must know, i could not, not not not stand this guy… not that he was a bad person but he was such a prankster, he always had tricks up on his sleeve. argh! =p

i guess god works in mysterious ways. years passed , we started out as co-workers, drinking buddies, friends, confidants, drinking buddies, something in betweens, boyfriend-girlfriend, drinking buddies and here we are now sharing our lives together as husband and wife. ugh cheezy moment!

notice the group of people around us. these are the culprits! These are the people who were initially shocked when word spread that neil and i started dating, but then supported us all the way. we love these guys, they are our adopted brothers and sisters. Just wanted to post something about them.

oh btw, we got them something for christmas to share. :D

Back to life… back to reality…

and still no honeymoon! oh well :D wedding is over and now we are back (at least physically) in the U.S. I was pretty tired from our trip to the Philippines, but overall, i could definitely say that everything went as planned (or unplanned). The wedding and reception went smooth sailing, some unavoidable glitches (just one that i can remember but it was too minor to even be noticed by our guests), people had fun and everyone was happy, thats pretty much all that mattered to me and neil.

We were able to get the 5dvds of photos from our photographer, Nelwin Uy. we love love love his work. He is very easy to work with, and truly, a master of his craft. People from work have already viewed these clips and ive had comments that the photos were so good that you can actually send them out as post cards (blush).

Ive yet to get some rest over the weekend but im really hoping to finish going thru the dvds so i can work on doing a layout for our wedding album. or maybe scrapbook.

anywho, here are the youtube links to the videos. happy viewing everyone :D
